Models.com's featured new face today is this guy, Benjamin Mache. You only have to look at this guy to know that he's French. I mean that in the best way. French men are hot. And, by the way, people who think it's clever to hate the French can fuck off, as far as I'm concerned. See more of Benjamin here.

MTV showed the pilot episode of their new show I Just Want My Pants Back (based on a novel) on Sunday night after the VMAs, even though the series doesn't air until January, and I will probably watch it because of this guy, soon to be 25-year-old Peter Vack, who ticks off all my boxes. He's just gorgeous. As for the show itself... meh. I give MTV credit for not doing yet another scripted show set in high school, but this seems like something that should star Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke, circa 1994. Bad things: The dialog is so self-consciously clever that one is left wondering who really talks like that. It makes the fatal mistake of telling us what we are supposed to think- we are told at least twice in the first two minutes that Peter is funny, long before we have a chance to decide that for ourselves, and despite that, I'm still not sure that it's particularly true. Plus, it doesn't take a crystal ball to see which characters are meant to be together, despite the fact that they are "just friends." Good things: Um, Peter Vack rolling around in his underwear? Well, I'm shallow, and Peter Vack is yummy, and if he's going to be rolling around in his underwear on TV, I want to see it. So sue me.

Unlike Superboy, who, as you all know, was created in a large test tube in the laboratories of Project Cadmus, professional models, despite their seeming perfection, are not. I know! I'm just as surprised as you are. I learned this only because some enterprising soul at Soul Artist Management decided that this year's show cards for New York fashion week would feature the models' current looks alongside pictures from their childhoods. What else have I learned from this?
Sean Harju was a jock. And a nerd. Both at once.
Matt Giesler and Sebastian Sauve were brought up in artsy families. Matt was OK with it. Sebastian, not so much.
Simon Nessman was a willowy young thing, and like most other Canadians his age, had a box full of owls.
Terron Wood was a chub. (Just goes to show you.)
And, of course, River Viiperi has been completely adorable his whole life.

Here I am, scrambling to keep my promise of getting a new blog up today. I always knew that I was going to do a roundup, but I have spent so little time online this week that I wasn't sure if I had enough good, and appropriate, pictures.
I had a rather unfortunate email encounter with a reader earlier this week. I won't go into the details, but suffice to say, it wasn't pretty. Let me say, if you email me and I don't answer you right away, in most cases it does not mean that I am ignoring you. Sometimes you have asked me a question that I don't know the answer to, and I'm trying to find your answer. Sometimes I see your email while I'm at work and I am saving it until I am at home. This can be dangerous because I am likely to forget about it in the meantime. Sometimes I plan to answer but I simply forget. And, yes, sometimes you are trying to get me to promote a dating site or commercial porn site and I really am ignoring you. Whatever the reason, I'm sorry, it's not personal, and if you drop me a second email it will certainly be answered more promptly.
Today's soundtrack is June Christy: Something Cool.
Many more pictures after the jump.
