Vera's Top Five Countdown!

Based strictly on page views, here are the five most popular boys featured on the blog in its nine year history. In descending order...

#5 Sam Harwood made his first appearance on the blog in April 2014. Now, at the ripe, old age of 20, he is still possesses the kind of  physical perfection that actually causes some people to feel resentful. But I'm not bitter.

#4 At age 25, even scruffy facial hair can't make Toby Regbo look like anything but an angelic teenager. Toby made his first blog appearance in 2010, and his eyes were featured on my banner for a year or so, but it was a post from December 2011 that still racks up the views. After putting in three years on the low-rated, but still inexplicably airing, anti-historical cheese-fest TV show Reign, he seems to be spending most of  his time soaking up the sun in tropical climes, with no upcoming roles or projects. I sure hope you go back to work soon, Toby, and in the meantime, wear sunscreen.

#3 Since I wrote about Sean O'Donnell in October 2013, he has moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, doing... something? I'm not sure exactly what. He has had a few small professional projects, as actor, is often photographed on red carpets in the company of "Young Hollywood" types, and still posts to social media. At age 20 he still looks just like he did when he was 17.

#2 River Viiperi was a favorite of mine until he took a long hiatus to be the full time toy boy of a certain infamous blond heiress and media whore, who shall remain nameless. Between February 2010 and August 2012 he appeared here forty-nine times, but it is the post entitled Naked River from May 2010 that made the biggest splash.  Now that River has come to his senses, he has been quite successful at relaunching his modeling career.

#1 Can it be any surprise that Lucky Blue Smith is still the number one most popular guy at Vera's? Is it any surprise that he is still dominating the world of male modeling? The only surprise to me is that it has been almost two years since he first appeared here. Time do fly when you're having fun!

I'll Call You Anything You'd Like

This rather spectacular face belongs to 20-year-old New Yorker, skinny young thing, and up-and-coming (don't even say it...) actor Timothée Chalamet. He is starring in the film adaptation of Andre Aciman's excellent novel Call Me by Your Name. The novel, about a 17-year-old's infatuation with a graduate student (played by Armie Hammer in the film) who is staying in his family's home on the Italian Riviera, is one of my favorites, and you should read it, like right now.

Face Friday

I'm not sure exactly where I stand on the matter of Yevgeniy Tkachenko. Sometimes I think he looks like a perfectly good-looking guy, sometimes I think he looks downright odd, and then there are pictures like this in which he looks like an actual angel who has come down from heaven.

Watts Going On?

Talk about your slim young things! Newbie Dan Watts is the definition of the term. He looks like the love child of Ash Stymest and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

What's Up With Valerio?

I can never get enough of Deutsch schöner Junge Valerio Schmidt, but he's hard to find. It seems that he does most of his modeling in Japan. Schade!

Edit, June 2018:

I don't know if Valerio, who I used to adore, is modeling now or not.  Haven't seen him in ages.  But someone claiming to represent the agency Valerio is signed with is so worried that you might think Valerio is gay that he has insisted Valerio's pictures must be removed.  This person's name is Thomas Geldschläger and in his exact words,  "You have no right to post or publish any picture or call someone gay, whether he is homosexual or not."

It is true that I have no ownership of these photos I found on Tumblr, but as far as I can see, neither does Herr Geldschläger.  And when and where did I imply that Valerio Schmidt, or anyone else who has not publicly stated that they are gay, was gay?  Never. And why would someone who is not deeply homophobic be concerned that they are perceived as gay?  Well, I'm sorry that I promoted Herr Geldschläger's client for him, and fear not, sir, it won't happen again.

Flower Boy

Perhaps you have noticed that updates here have been few and far between lately. (Or perhaps you haven't, it's hard for me to tell these days.)  I have been very busy rehearsing a musical, which opened this weekend and runs until next Sunday.  I should be back to regular posting soon, but given the state of the blogosphere, I don't feel any urgency to do so.  In the meantime, for all my loyal readers, if I have any left, here's a photo of lovely French model Alexander Ferrario, shot by Lorenzo Marcucci, all oiled up and with a lily in his mouth. Bless.
